Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce ortho-metalated substd. aromatic compd. and to selectively produce an ortho-fluorinated substd. aromatic compd. by bringing a metalating reagent into contact with an aromatic compd. having substituents which can direct to the ortho-metalation reaction under enough reaction conditions for the production of ortho-metalated substd. aromatic compd.
CONSTITUTION: An ortho-metalated substd. aromatic compd. is reacted with an electrophilic fluorinating reagent under enough reaction conditions to produce the objective ortho-fluorinated substd. aromatic compd., and then the obtd. product is recovered from the reaction compd. In this method, a metalation reaction intermediate is used before the electrophilic fluorinating process, and the method avoids problems associated with conventional electrophilic fluorinating reaction which does not proceed in the course of a regiospecifically controlled intermediate.
