PURPOSE: To obtain a sterilized food without alcoholic smell, by placing a food and alcohol in a container, hermetically sealing the container, rotating the container to apply the alcohol to the food, then heating the resultant food and evacuating or replacing the interior of the container with a gas.

CONSTITUTION: A food (B) is placed from an opening 13 into a container 1 of a sterilizer (A) and the container is then closed. An alcohol or alcoholic pharmaceutical consisting essentially thereof is then added from a tank 10, pump and nozzle 8. The container 1 is then rotated to apply the alcohol to the food. A current is subsequently passed through a heater 11 to heat and volatilize the alcohol while rotating the container 1. The interior of the container 1 is sucked and evacuated or a gas is blown into to remove the alcohol from the interior of the container 1.
