PURPOSE: To prevent pollution and freezing, by sprinkling granular or lump coal to a prescribed thickness on a coal pile stored on an outdoor storage equipment including pulverized coal, to prevent the flying-away of coal dust without springkling water and retain the temperature of the coal.

CONSTITUTION: When coal is conveyed from a coal yard to a coal bunker, the coal is transferred from a coal pile 10 to a conveyor 4 by a reclaimer 5. When the coal has reached a screen 7, granular or lump coal equal to or larger than a prescribed diameter and other coal smaller than the diameter are sorted from each other so that the granular or lump coal is conducted into a bin 9 by a conveyor 8 and the other coal is carried to the coal bunker by a conveyor 6 together with coal which does not pass through the screen 7. Coal unloaded from a ship and including pulverized coal is carried by conveyors 1, 2 and loaded onto the coal yard by a stacker 3. Right after that, the granular or lump coal is taken out of the bin 9 and carried by the conveyors 8, 1, 2 and sprinkled on the coal pile 10 by the stacker 3.
