PURPOSE: To utilize both heat and chill using one unit by storing a liquid working medium and an adsorbent while insulating thermally when heat is utilized, taking out heat from the adsorbent and making a sorbent to adsorb working medium vapor and then taking out the discharged sorption heat.
CONSTITUTION: Thermal energy required for operating an sorption unit is supplied to a sorbent 1 upon charging the battery of an electric automobile. For that purpose, a control and regulation unit 12 heats up the sorbent 1 through an electric heater 3 until final temperature of desorption is reached. A working medium 9 purged in a sorbent container 2 flows through a working medium vapor duct 6 and an open interrupter 8 into a working medium container 7 where it is condensed on the outer wall thereof. Condensation takes place at a relatively high temperature when the heat is utilized and a ventilator 11 cools the working medium container 7 only when the condensation pressure must be higher than the atmospheric pressure. Upon finishing desorption, heat loss is supplemented through the electric heater 3.
