To provide a device to insert a string which prevents corrosion from generating on a bound steel pipe bundle.
When steel pipes 1 are arranged and stacked in a plurality of stages and a plurality of rows, and are bound with a binding band 30 at a plurality of spots in the longitudinal direction, a string 14 is passed the stacked location of steel pipe rows 11 from a string feeding mechanism which is installed on a device main body 35, by pinching the tip of the string 14 by a movable clamping mechanism, and the string 14 is cut by a cutting mechanism at the string base end which is provided on the string feeding mechanism side, and the string 14 is inserted between steel pipe rows of each stage, and a gap to prevent corrosion from generating on the top and the bottom surfaces of each steel pipe 1, is formed. Also, by constituting the device main body 35 in a manner to be movable and fixable in the longitudinal direction of the steel pipe 1 to make the binding location and the string inserting location meet, and steel pipes 1 on the top and the bottom are prevented from coming into contact with each other.
