To provide a method for the preparation of a saccharide composition.
The method is a reiterative method comprising the following three steps. (i) A step of bringing an acceptor moiety composed of proteins, glycoproteins, lipids, glycolipids or carbohydrates into contact with a mixture supposed to contain a glycosyltransferase under conditions effective to allow the glycosyltransferase to bind to the acceptor moiety thereby resulting in the separation of the glycosyltransferase capable of transferring a preparatorily selected saccharide unit to the acceptor moiety, (ii) a step to catalyze the bonding of the acceptor moiety to the preparatorily selected saccharide unit by using the separated glycosyltransferase and (iii) a step to repeat the steps (i) and (ii) several times while using the intermediate product obtained by the step (i) as the acceptor moiety of the step (ii).
