To provide an echo eliminating means for a multiplex channel with a small convergence time and less arithmetic quantity.
The system has adaptive filters 80, 81, 82 that are provided for each channel so as to apply adaptive control to each tap in a way that a tap coefficient is paced around a position of a waveform reply section excluding a fixed delay from an impulse response of an echo path thereby eliminating an echo in a multiplex channel by each channel. A control circuit 70 receives sets of tap position information 601, 603, 605 from the adaptive filters 80, 81, 82 to compare a degree of convergence of each adaptive filter mutually and gives coefficient update control signals 602, 604, 606 to the adaptive filters 80, 81, 82 respectively so as to suppress update of the coefficient in the adaptive filter whose convergence is progressed.
