Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a method and system for emulating a graphic inputting device in a data processing system by using a telephone set. CONSTITUTION: A graphic inputting device is emulated by using a telephone set 22 with which a data processing system is connected. A telephone set 22 which can generate dual tone modulation frequencies is connected with a data processing system 10 including at least one graphic inputting device. The graphic inputting device has a related software routine including software commands enabling communication with the data processor. Each pair of dual tone modulation frequencies is made correspond to one of the software commands. The dual tone modulation frequencies are received through telephone connection by the data processing system 10. At least one software command is executed in response to the reception of the dual tone modulation frequencies by the data processing system, and the use of the graphic inputting device is emulated.
