Abstract:
To provide a method for taking out data from an almost failing disk drive before the disk drive actually fails and copying them.
In a data processing system using a disk drive array, by predicting the failing possibility of the disk drive, the copying of the data from the disk drive to a standby disk drive is started before it actually fails. In the case that the disk drive fails before the copying is completed, contents left without being copied are reconstructed.
