To provide a weld part inspecting means which enables appropriate determination on the shape of a weld part at the boundary between the weld part and a flat surface of a member to be welded, or the like, and is free from the nonuniformity in measuring accuracy according to the skill or the degree of the skill of a measuring person.
Positional data p on each measuring point P of a linear measuring region R which intersects the weld part 13 are obtained by a shape measuring optical sensor 21. Positional data corresponding to the peripheral part R11e of the linear measuring region R are subjected to straight regression to determine a temporary regression line L01. Based on whether or not a prescribed number or more of positional data being consecutive in the sequence of alignment of the measuring points P deviate in a prescribed amount or more from the temporary regression line L01, boundary position data pn showing the boundary 13e between the flat surface 11a of the member 11 to be welded and the weld part 13 are estimated. Positional data corresponding to a portion from the peripheral part to the boundary 13e are subjected to straight regression and thereby a normal regression line L1 showing the flat surface 11a is determined.
