METHOD FOR TRACKING POSITION OF RUNNING BODY

PURPOSE:To accurately track the position of a running body, by calculating the moving quantity of the running body in a horizontal direction with due regard to the angle of the looper present on a route formed with respect to the horizontal direction and shifting a shift register on the basis of said moving quantity. CONSTITUTION:A rolling material 3 is moved between the rollers 1, 2 spaced apart by a distance Ll from each other of a rolling stand. A looper roller 6 is present between the rollers 1, 2 to be mounted to one end of a looper arm 7 having a length Lr in a freely rotatable manner and the other end R of said arm 7 is fixed and the roller 6 is rotated around the end R so as to draw a circle with a radius Lr to apply proper tension to the rolling material 3. By this mechanism, the rolling material 3 moves on the predetermined route between two points and, at this time, a shift register 4 divided into a predetermined number of segments as shown by numerals 5 is allowed to correspond to the distance Ll between tow points, and, with due regard to the angle theta of the looper formed with respect to a horizontal direction, the moving quantity of the rolling material 3 in the horizontal direction is calculated and the shift register 4 is shifted on the basis of said moving quantity. By this method, tracking is performed and possibility generating an error accompanying the change of the looper angle thetadue to the presence of the looper can be precluded.
