Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the method for treating the domestic fowl, capable of preventing the drop of the commercial value caused by violently fluttering the wings of the domestic fowl to break the shoulder and the wings and thereby produce a defective product, when the domestic fowl such as a chicken or a duck, especially for a broiler, is treated by cutting its carotid artery with a blade.
CONSTITUTION: In the method for treating the domestic fowl by holding the legs of the domestic fowl, nipping its neck with rolls, successively carrying the domestic fowl to a treating table and cutting the carotid artery with a blade on the treating table, an alternating or direct electric current having a voltage of 25-60V, preferably 30-40V, is applied to the domestic fowl, preferably its neck, from 1-2 seconds before the cutting treatment to 3-4 seconds after the cutting treatment. The treating method enables to largely increase the rate of the non-defective products from conventional 60% to 90%, to massively treat the domestic fowl, and to save labors.
