Title:
METHOD FOR TREATING ORGANIC WASTE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3856127
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating organic waste capable of increasing the rate of volume reduction of sludge by reducing the amount of hardly biodegradable solid organic matter in heat treatment residue to increase the rate of biodegradation as well as by effectively preventing deterioration of the COD (chemical oxygen demand) and chromaticity of treated water produced by biodegrading heat-treated sludge.
SOLUTION: In the method for treating organic waste in which organic waste is heat-treated and at least a part of it is degraded by using a microbial reaction, the concentration of soluble phosphate phosphorus in the organic waste in the heat treatment step is kept at ≤20 mg/L. Since the produced amount of hardly degradable organic matter is greatly changed by the concentration of soluble phosphorus, occurrence of browning phenomenon is suppressed by lowering the concentration of soluble phosphorus to reduce the amount of hardly biodegradable solid organic matter in heat treatment residue as well as to suppress deterioration of the COD and chromaticity of treated water, whereby the rate of volume reduction of sludge can be increased.
