Abstract:

To provide a method for treating a polymer having a skeleton comprising a carbon-carbon bond, by which the polymer having the skeleton comprising the carbon-carbon bond can be preferentially cut at a branch point of the carbon-carbon bond, as well as the polymer having a skeleton comprising the carbon-carbon bond can be treated with an easily available and inexpensive substance; and to provide a product obtained by the method.

The method comprises oxidizing a polymer having the skeleton comprising the carbon-carbon bond in a gas atmosphere at a pressure of not less than 5.0 MPa and at a temperature higher than 140°C and lower than 200°C, by using the oxygen included in the gas atmosphere.
