Abstract:

To provide a method for the treatment of waste paper pulp and a deinking assistant to perform the deinking and bleaching treatment of waste paper pulp in high efficiency.

The method for the treatment of waste paper pulp comprises the contact of waste paper pulp with hydrogen peroxide and a metal complex catalyst including an M-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine complex (M-salen complex) expressed by general formula (1) to remove residual ink from the pulp and bleach pulp fiber. The deinking assistant for the removal of residual ink from waste paper pulp is expressed by general formula (1).
