Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for twisting a metal pipe in which a uniform twisting shape can be machined stably and accurately, and furthermore a twisting shape can be freely controlled according to user's preference.SOLUTION: A metal pipe 5 is conveyed in the order of a recess forming roll pair 4a, a standard roll pair 4b, and a twisting roll pair 4c. In that case, a core 41 is inserted. Then, recesses 53 are formed by pressing each plane part 51 in the metal pipe 5 toward the pipe side by the recess forming roll pair 4a. The right end or left end of each plane part 51 is brought into abutment with the plane from a substantially vertical direction by the standard roll pair 4b. The metal pipe 5 is pressed, using the twisting roll pair 4c provided by rotating from the abutment surface of the standard roll pair 4b to the pipe periphery direction, according to a desired twisting angle to the pitch in the pipe axis direction from the standard roll pair 4b.
