After the end of cutting work is detected by a working completion detecting sensor, with a product WA clamped by the front vice device 15, the front vice device 15 is moved outward in the transport direction by the operation of the front vice transfer cylinder, thereby separating the product WA from the cutting position. Subsequently, the insert cylinder is controlled to separate the front insert in each saw blade guide from the rear insert, thereby tilting forward the knife-edge that is a part of a band saw blade performing a cutting action.
