Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high speed MODEM in a telephone local loop by overlapping a timing signal on a pulse signal transmitted from a PSTN to a reception QLS MODEM.
SOLUTION: User data 229 are transmitted as a pulse signal through a transmission QLS MODEM 203 and a local loop 217 to a PSTN 309. A coding/ decoding 315 of the PSTN 309 converts the pulse signal into another pulse signal, and transmits it through a subscriber's line 219 to a reception QLS MODEM 205. When access to the pool of a network level QLS MODEM 305 is performed, the next data connection is switched through the MODEM 305. At that time, a timing signal is overlapped on the pulse signal transmitted from the PSTN to the reception QLS MODEM. The reception QLS MODEM synchronizes with network sampling clock frequencies in response to the received timing signal.
