To improve the oxidation and a bleaching action of a peroxide, especially an inorganic peroxide at a temperature lower than 80°C, especially withing the temperature range of about 15°C-45°C.
As a bleaching catalyst, a compound represented by the formula (1) is used: M(L)nXm (1) [wherein M is a metal atom selected from the group consisting of Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Mo and W; L is a ligand represented by a formula R1R2C=N-O(H)z (wherein R1 is a 1-22C-alkyl, a 2-22C-alkenyl or a 5-24C-aryl, R2 is H, a 1-22C alkyl, a 2-22C-alkenyl, a 5-24C-aryl or R1C=N-O(H)z, and z is 0 or 1); X is a neutral or negative ion ligand selected from the group consisting of pyridines, imidazolines, methylimidazoles, picolines, lutidines, a chloride, a bromide, a nitrate, a perchlorate, a citrate, a hexafluorophosphate, and an anion of an organic acid having a 1-22C carbon atom, n is a number of 2-4, and m is a number of 0-4].
