Abstract:

To manufacture a metallic honeycomb body having stable quality excellent in dimensional characteristics and shape characteristics by dispersing pressure-supporting force and winding while preventing the edge crushing of the metallic honeycomb body.

A metallic flat foil and a metallic wavy foil are piled up and wound by using one pair of side clamps 8 having pressure-supporting surface 80 concentrically with a winding shaft 5 and rotatably and a rotating shaft 5 to manufacture the metallic honeycomb body 4. At that time, the pressure- supporting area with the side clamps 8 to the metallic honeycomb body 4 is increased in continuous or step by step according to the increase of the winding diameter. In such a way, the pressure-supporting force is dispersed and while preventing the edge crushing of the metallic honeycomb body 4, the winding is executed. By this method, the pressure-supporting force can be dispersed.
