Abstract:
To provide pharmaceutical compositions and methods for the treatment for cysteamine sensitive disorders.SOLUTION: Provided is a pharmaceutical composition comprising compound 3 below, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Preferably, the pharmaceutical composition further comprises a second active agent comprising a cysteamine precursor or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Preferably, the compound 3 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is formulated for immediate release and the second active agent is formulated for delayed release. The methods for the treatment of cystinosis and other cysteamine sensitive disorders in a subject can include the separate administration of a reducing agent to the subject to increase the bioavailability and extend the plasma pharmacokinetic profile of the cysteamine produced following administration of the disulfide. The methods permit sustained cysteamine plasma concentrations in a subject.SELECTED DRAWING: None
