Abstract:
To provide micro-organoids that can replace or enhance one or more physiological functions in an individual, which are useful in the treatment of individuals lacking the physiological function, or suffering disorders thereof.SOLUTION: Provided is a functional physiological unit (FPU), the FPU comprising in contiguous form an isolated extracellular matrix (ECM) and at least one cell type, the FPU performing at least one function of an organ or an organ derived tissue, the FPU being less than about 1000 microliters in volume, the FPU being in administrable or injectable form, and the at least one function of an organ or an organ-derived tissue being the production of a protein, a growth factor, a cytokine, an interleukin, or a small molecule, which is characteristic of at least one cell type derived from the organ or tissue.SELECTED DRAWING: None
