To provide an electron gain device equipped with a rectangular slot realizing close clearance between an electron detection device and the MCP.
The microchannel plate (MCP) includes an active part having an input surface area receiving electrons and an output surface area outputting multiplicated electrons. The input and the output surface areas are directed horizontally with each other, and separated by the vertical distance. A non-active part surrounds the active part of the MCP. The non-active part is extended in a vertical direction in the non-active part, and also, includes at least one slot forming an area having a horizontal slot extended in a horizontal direction. In case the MCP is arranged upward in a vertical direction of the electron detection device equipped with a looping wire at an upper part in the vertical direction of the electron detection device, the slot is structured so as to receive a part of the wire, as the result, a perpendicular clearance is formed between the MCP and the electron detection device.
