Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and thin reader, with which high-speed reading is enabled and high-precision paper money identification is enabled, by composing a detection light irradiating means of plural LED elements arranged and formed at prescribed intervals on a frame-shaped holding board.
SOLUTION: The surface of a glass plate 21 consists of the conveyer route of a paper money 1. A detection light irradiating means 22 irradiates a microcode printed on the paper money 1 with detection light. The detection light irradiating means 22 is composed of a frame-shaped holding board 25 and plural LED elements 26 arranged and formed at the prescribed intervals on the front face and rear face of the holding board 25 near an opening part 32. A reflection plate 31 under the holding board 25 reflects upward the light radiated downward from the LED elements 26 and increases the quantity of light on the irradiated face. A photodetecting means 24 is composed of a CCD board 29 and its peripheral circuit, the reflected light from the paper money 1 is detected through a light transmitting means 23, and the presence/absence of the microcode is detected.
