Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microminiature microwave electron source excellent in usability and applicable to many purposes.
SOLUTION: The microminiature microwave electron source emitting electrons under excitation with microwave through coaxial cable Co comprises a conductive chamber 2 connected to an outer conductor 14 at its opening and having an opening anode 6 at its bottom, a center conductor of electron source 1 connected to the center conductor of the coaxial cable Co 12 at one end and having cold cathode of carbon nanotube 4 opposed to the anode 6 in the chamber 2 on the other end, a coupling iris 8 which tightly supports the center conductor 1 at the opening of the chamber 2, and means 16 for connecting the center conductor 1 to the center conductor of the coaxial cable.
