Abstract:
To provide a Paracoccus sp. RF1 strain, and to provide a method for producing a carotenoid using the strain.
There provided are a mutant strain Paracoccus RF1 obtained through exposure of a Paracoccus sp. MBIC01143 strain to radiation, and a method for producing the carotenoid containing astaxanthin using the mutant strain with high efficiency of ≥7 times that of the mother strain. The technique for mass-producing the carotenoid containing the astaxanthin by the method can usefully be used in various industries such as cosmetics, foods, and feeds.
