Abstract:

To provide a microporous membrane made of polyethylene which has excellent productivity and characteristics, also has excellent safety achieved by a perfect fuse effect, and is used for a battery, and to provide a battery using the microporous membrane.

The microporous membrane made of polyethylene is composed of a composition at least comprising: 10 to 95 wt.% of high density polyethylene having the viscosity-average molecular weight of 100,000 to 4,000,000; and 5 to 90 wt.% of polyethylene having a melting point of >125°C and ≤132°C.
