PURPOSE: To provide a microscope, which can secure a prescribed S/N even when a white light source with low illuminance is used, by miniaturizing/ lightening the microscope and driving a battery with low power consumption as well by using a full color LEC as the white light source.

CONSTITUTION: As the white light source, a full color LED 33 is adopted in place of a halogen lamp, and that is fitted to an LED substrate 32 at the head of a camera head part 22. Thus, an optical fiber is unnecessitated a fan for radiation like in the case of the halogen lamp can be unnecessitated, the microscope can be miniaturized/lightened, and power consumption can be reduced as well. Concerning the full color LED 33, the illuminance is low and the level of an output signal from a solid-state imaging device 2 is low. However, the signal level can be increased and the S/N can be equivalently improved by noise reduction by constituting the LED so as to execute an operation for storing image data in a frame memory plural times with a digital filter.
