Abstract:

To provide a microstructured separation device and a microfluidic method for separating a liquid component from particles contained in a liquid without using a filter medium and a pump or other auxiliary means.

The microstructured separation device for separating the liquid component from the liquid containing the particles comprises at least one transport flow path 6 for transporting the liquid in a prescribed transport direction 30, at least one separation area 3 on a branching part of the transport flow path to which a side surface flow path for discharging a partial flow of the liquid from the transport flow path 6 is connected and microstructures 20, 21, 22, 23 in the separation area 3 which exclude large particles in the liquid from the separation area and, further, delays the transport of the small particles in the separation area 3.
