Abstract:

PURPOSE: To form a dielectric Cherenkov maser(DCM) having a small size and low power consumption by disposing a superconductor around a dielectric.

CONSTITUTION: In a microwave oscillator having a cavity 4 for passing a relativistic electron beam and a dielectric 3 disposed around the cavity, a superconductor 5 is disposed around the dielectric to form the oscillator. The superconductor has a large energy gap. The superconductor is formed of yttrium (or other lanthanoid element)-barium-copper-oxygen, mainly of bismuth-strontium-calcium- copper-oxygen, mainly of tharium-barium-calcium-copper-oxygen or lanthanum- alkali earth metal-copper-oxygen.
