To provide a microwave sensor with improved reliability in signal processing while with reduced or eliminated tuning need.
A microwave sensor 2 which detects speed and direction of a mobile body 20 comprises a mixer 6, a phase-shifter 8, and a transmission/ reception antenna, mounted in series. The mixer 6 comprises a single intermediate frequency(IF) output. The intermediate frequency IF is switched in synchronism with the phase shifter 8 wherein phase is shifted between 0° and 45°. Although the mixer 8 comprises only a single intermediate frequency output, switching provides two output channel signals with phase different by 90°, for precision of moving direction. The single intermediate frequency channel provides a gain matching specific to an output channel which eliminates the need for tuning for equilibrium of output channel, which is required for conventional sensor.
