Title:
MINIMALLY INVASIVE SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR APPROXIMATING TISSUES TO EACH OTHER WITH SUTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2022027694
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
To provide minimally invasive systems and methods for approximating tissues to each other.SOLUTION: A minimally invasive surgical method of approximating tissues to each other includes coupling an adjustable loop of a suture around an inserter. The loop can be coupled to the inserter by applying tension to a tail of the suture to collapse the loop around the inserter, then the inserter and loop are passed through a first location in tissues. The loop is decoupled from the inserter, and the inserter is retracted from the first location. The inserter is reinserted into a second location in the tissues, and then the loop is recoupled to the inserter while the loop is distal to the tissues. The decoupling, retraction and reinsertion can occur without withdrawing the inserter from a patient's body. The inserter and loop are then withdrawn together from the tissues through this second location to an outside of the patient's body. The tails and loop can form a luggage knot to be reduced around the tissues.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2A
