To provide an automatic frequency control circuit that avoids erroneous frequency control when an amplitude level of demodulated data is largely deteriorated so as to enhance the stability of frequency control and the reception quality.
In the AFC(Automatic Frequency Control) circuit 40A where a frequency error calculation section 44 calculates a frequency error on the basis of a temporal average value of phase rotation vectors including a phase error between demodulation symbols and a control signal generating section 45 integrates the frequency error and supplies the integrated frequency error as an oscillated frequency control signal FCS to a VCO, an amplitude detection control section 46A compares the amplitude of the averaged phase rotation vector with a threshold value T and stops the frequency error calculation processing and the frequency error integration processing by the frequency error calculation section 44 and the control signal generating section 45 when the amplitude is decreased to the threshold value T or below so as to keep a control voltage of the VCO to a value before the amplitude of the averaged phase rotation vector is decreased.
