Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deploy an air bag into a desired shape even when, during deployment of a side air bag, the air bag is located at a position to interfere with a belt member.
SOLUTION: In a passenger constraining device having a seat belt device 1 and a side air bag 8, the seat belt device 1 comprises a belt member 2; a buckle member 3; a tongue member 4; and a retractor. The tongue member 4 is removably inserted in the buckle member 3. The side air bag 8 is developed a car room inside wall and a passenger from the side of a passenger toward the head part thereof when a side collision load is exerted on a vehicle. The buckle member 3 is coupled to a seat cross pipe 13 through a flexible coupling member 12. As a result of a seat cross pipe 13 being pressed against the inside of a car during a side collision, the buckle member 3 is moved in a direction in which the belt member 2 is loosened.
