To provide a mobile telephone communication network in which appropriate communication can be maintained even when a telephone user moves to an area which is not served sufficiently by any cell of a network.
The mobile communication system includes repeaters. When a passenger transporting means moves from one place to another plane through an intermediate area, each repeater is controlled to operate with various gains required for maintaining an appropriate signal level of telephone. When the transporting means is in the intermediate area, a computer is programmed such that the gain of the repeater is altered depending on the strength of a received signal and handover is determined and controlled at some position depending on the strength of the signal. Handover and the gain, if the circumstances require, are determined by the computer according to a GPS signal received by the transporting means.
