Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for operating a mobile station as a wireless LAN gateway.SOLUTION: A method for operating a mobile station comprises the steps of: enabling wireless LAN means as a wireless LAN base station which can communicate with at least one wireless LAN terminal on a wireless LAN network; generating a network identifier for the wireless LAN base station, assigning an Internet protocol address for at least one wireless LAN terminal, and resolving a DNS query in cooperation with an external DNS (Domain Name Service) service system; assigning at least one port number to each protocol supported by a gateway application; and tunneling Internet traffic between at least one wireless LAN terminal and an Internet host on broadband connection.
