PURPOSE: To change over operation into a running mode wherein power-up is provided which is suitable for the will of driver by causing a forced down- shift in a certain period of time in case gear shift is from fourth speed to fourth speed and the car speed is below a certain value when changing-over is to be made into the running mode with power-up.
CONSTITUTION: In case gear shift is from fourth speed to fourth speed and the car speed is below a certain value when operation is to be changed over by a changeover switch 4 into a running mode in which power-up is obtained, transfer into running condition with higher power is obtained by performing down-shift forcedly in a certain period of time. Accordingly forced transfer into running mode with higher power is obtained, which suits demands by the driver. Thus a smooth running suitable for actual running condition can be made by transferring into the running mode with higher power.
