Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an insulator for super-high voltage power cable having excellent impulse break down resistance by modifying low-density PE, namely effecting the reprecipitation of low-density polyethylene solution in an organic solvent.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a low-density polyethylene of 0.89 to 0.92 density is dissolved in an organic solvent such as xylene or toluene and the resultant solution is mixed with a poor solvent such as methanol to cause the reprecipitation of the polyethylene to effect the modification of low-density PE.
