To provide a cooling device which achieves low introduction costs.SOLUTION: A modification method 100 of the cooling device includes: steps S110 to S150 in which predetermined devices are set in a storage object housing chamber 20A and a machine housing chamber 20B; a fluorocarbon refrigerant drawing step S160 in which a fluorocarbon refrigerant F1 is drawn from a refrigerant path including a refrigerant feed pipe 50 and a refrigerant return pipe 60; a replacement step S170 in which a replacement gas is supplied to the refrigerant path; a combustible refrigerant supply step S180 in which a combustible refrigerant F2 is supplied to the refrigerant path; a combustible refrigerant discharge step S190 in which the combustible refrigerant F2 is discharged in the storage object housing chamber 20A; and a determination step S200 which is performed after the combustible refrigerant discharge step to determine whether or not a refrigerant sensor 82 detects the combustible refrigerant F2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
