Abstract:
To provide modified biopolymers, such as charge-modified biopolymers, crosslinked biopolymers, and crosslinked charge-modified biopolymers, along with methods of producing and using the same.SOLUTION: A method comprises: combining a biopolymer and at least one charge-modifying agent to form a homogenous reaction blend; reacting the biopolymer and the at least one charge-modifying agent in the homogenous reaction blend; and crosslinking the biopolymer in the homogeneous reaction blend to form a crosslinked charge-modified biopolymer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1B
