Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a modified norbornene-based polymer excellent in electric characteristics such as a dielectric constant and peeling strength to a copper foil, capable of uniformly dispersing a compounding ingredient such as a flame retardant and suitable for a resin material for a circuit substrate, and further to provide a method for producing the polymer and a cross-linkable resin containing the modified norbornene-based polymer.
SOLUTION: This modified norbornene-based polymer is the one obtained by performing a graft modification of a norbornene-based polymer containing an aromatic-ring by at least one kind of an unsaturated compound selected from an unsaturated epoxy compound and an unsaturated carboxyl compound, and having 500-500,000 weight average molecular weight. The method for producing the modified norbornene-based polymer comprises a graft reaction of at least one kind of unsaturated compound selected from the unsaturated epoxy compound and the unsaturated carboxyl compound to the norbornene-based polymer containing an aromatic-ring in the presence of a cross-linking agent. The cross-linkable resin material includes the modified norbornene-based polymer.
