A modified olefin copolymer is produced by the graft polymerization of an olefin-based polymer, which contains a repeating unit introduced from a straight-chain α-olefin having three or more carbon atoms and/or ethylene and a repeating unit introduced from a vinyl compound (I) or (II) mentioned below, and an alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon and/or unsaturated carboxylic acid. The vinyl compound (I) is represented by formula CH2=CH-R, and the steric parameter Es of the substituent R is at most -1.64 and the steric parameter B1 of the substituent R is at most 1.53. The vinyl compound (II) is represented by formula CH2=CH-R', and the substituent R' is a secondary alkyl or tertiary alkyl group.
