Abstract:
To provide a polyester resin having excellent hydrophilicity and dyeability with cationic dyes.
The polyester resin has hydrophilicity and dyeability with cationic dyes and is obtained by sulfonating a polyester resin with an alkylbenzenesulfonic acid as the sulfonating agent, further reacting the resulting product with oxalyl chloride by irradiation with active energy rays to impart carbonyl chloride groups thereto, and hydrolyzing the product thus obtained to produce a polyester resin having carboxylic groups and sulfonic groups, and a method for manufacturing the polyester resin is provided.
