Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the polyurea having a high water resistance, by allowing a polyurea to contain an anionic N-cyanaminocarbonyl urea group incorporated in the polymer chain and, optionally, by specifying the ratio of the two groups in a terminal anionic cyanourea group.
CONSTITUTION: In a polyurea containing an anionic N-cyanaminocarbonyl urea group of formula I incorporated in the polymer chain and, optionally, a terminal anionic cyanourea group of formula II, the ratio of the incorporated group I to the terminal group II is 1:1 or larger, preferably 2:1 or larger. This polyurea is preferably obtained through a preparation process which contains a step wherein an unmodified polyurea [e.g. a compound of formula V (wherein R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon or the like) is used as a portion of the polyisocyanate material], containing an oxadiazinetrione structural unit of formula III and/or an uretdione structural unit of formula IV, is allowed to react with a cyanamide salt to obtain a group of formula I.
