Abstract:
PURPOSE: To decrease conversion tables, to recluse the circuit scale, and to lower the cost by converting specific data, which can not be converted by a 1st conversion table, into variable length codes by a 2nd conversion table and outputting them as modulated codes.
CONSTITUTION: The modulating device is equipped with a shift register 31, a rank decision unit 32, a data length converting circuit 33, a 1st modulating circuit 34 (10-25 conversion table), a code generating circuit 35, a 2nd modulating circuit 36 (2-5 conversion table), and a shift register 37. The restriction length (i) (i=1-r) of data is decided, the (m×i)-bit data are converted into (n×r)-bit codes at a time by the 1st conversion table 34, and specific bits are extracted from those codes on the basis of the restriction length (i) and outputted as modulated codes. Further, the (m×i)-bit data which can not be converted by the 1st conversion table 34 are converted into (m×i)-bit variable length codes by the 2nd conversion table 36 and outputted as modulated codes.
