PURPOSE: To improve the releasability of a mold molding a composite optical element having a photo-setting transparent resin layer provided thereto, increase the kinds of compoundable lens blanks and enhance the mass-productivity.
CONSTITUTION: A mold matrix is formed by grinding optical glass to process the same into a shape having a desired non-spherical molding surface and an Al layer is formed to the outer cylindrical peripheral surface of the mold matrix after processing by a sputtering method to form a metal layer 4. After the metal layer 4 is provided, Si3N4 is applied the molding surface of the mold matrix 2 by a CVD method to a form a light pervious ceramics layer 3. A pair of the upper and lower molds thus obtained are used and a lens blank 6 is set between the molds and an epoxy type UV curing resin 5 is inserted in the gaps between the upper and lower molding surfaces of the molds and the lens blank 6 and irradiated with UV rays from above and below by UV lamps 1 to be cured to mold a composite optical element.
