Title:
MOLDING COMPOSITE FIBER YARN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01111034
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a composite fiber yarn having excellent strength, elastic modulus and processability and widely utilizable as a reinforcing material for automobile part such as radial tire and various structural parts of machines by compositing an ultra-high tenacity polyethylene fiber with a thermoplastic fiber. CONSTITUTION: The objective composite fiber yarn enabling uniform impregnation of a matrix into reinforcing fiber, generating little voids, having little influence of the melt-molding temperature on the physical properties of the reinforcing fiber, free from the deterioration of performance, etc., and exhibiting good workability by combining and compositing (A) an ultra-high tenacity polyethylene fiber having a tensile strength of >=20 g/de, preferably >=30 g/de and composed of an ultra-high polymer polyethylene having a weight-average molecular weight of >=1×10<5> with (B) a thermoplastic fiber having a melting point lower than the ultra-high tenacity polyethylene fiber by >=10 deg.C.
