PURPOSE: To simplify the construction of a device and to extend the life of dies by fixing upper and lower punches, constituting at least either of a die or core in such a manner that the die or core can be freely rotated, forming bevel teeth to the punch and compacting powder.
CONSTITUTION: The upper punch 8 fits into the bore part of the die 1 where no bevel tooth grooves are formed and raw material powder M is compressed between the die and the lower punch 12 to form the molding M' when the raw material powder M is packed into the die an the upper punch 8 is moved. The cores 6, 7 fit into holes 10, 11 of the upper punch 8 and penetrate the molding M' so that a through-hole 21 provided with a key groove and a circular hole 22 are bored. The die 1 is engaged with and guided by the bevel tooth grooves 12 formed to the outside periphery of the punch 12 and is rotated in this state, by which the bevel teeth are formed to part of the molding M'. The part of the molding M' where the bevel teeth are not formed is cut off by machining. A bevel gear 20 having a desired shape is thus obtd.
