PURPOSE: To enable a high speed molding at by disposing an outlet side flexing bar on the side where a blank is flexed by the outlet side flexing bar in the direction opposite from the direction where the blank is flexed by the inlet side flexing bar and flexing roller of a flexer.
CONSTITUTION: The blank 1 sent to the flexer 4 by pinch rolls 3 is bent to an arc shape to a lower roll 6b side of a small diameter and is then bent slightly upward by the outlet side flexing bar 7. The blank, thereafter, advances straightforward and abut against the front surface of an outer shell 15c, i.e., a lower guide surface 15c2, by which the blank is bent upward. The bent blank progresses along the lower guide surface and enters forming rolls 10. The blank emerging from the forming rolls 10 is bent downward by the end face 11a of the deflection bar 11 and is then smoothly advanced in the spacing between an inner shell 12 and the outer shells 15a, 15b by inertia force and is formed to a can body preform 13. The molding ends when the head end 13a of this preform comes into contact with a detaining surface 15c.
