Abstract:
Structural components, which are stressed electromagnetically and thermally and of which the side walls are 4 time the wall thickness, are produced by powder metallurgy, the side walls being composed of several phases side-by-side, and evenly distributed along the wall. One phase at least is ferromagnetic and at least one other has a good electrical conductivity. Component is produced by filling a mould with the powder mixt. composed of the two materials so that the layers extend parallel to the longitudinal direction, compacting and sintering under a protective gas atm. or vacuum without the formation of a liq. phase, and extruding the sintered body, which is free of cracks or blowholes and of 95% density, to the final shape with a material flow in the longitudinal direction. Method produces structural components of superior conductivity and electrical properties, and is partic. suitable for the prodn. of motor rotors.
